IDIS Family Day Part I
|
|
Tasik Titiwangsa, KL
The Children
On this day IDIS, the company that Alliya's Ayah is attached to was having its Family Day. It was the highlight of a series of games/ tournaments that was organized by IDIS Club. Alliya woke up very early since her ayah was the key person organizing the event.
We reached there around 8.00am. Alliya was at her usual's self... excited. Before the event started, she took some pictures using her Kodak Easyshare... and those were the only pictures that she took on that day. Once the telematch and games has begun, she was on the field either as a participant or a viewer.. but most of the time she was having a good time, enjoying the 'pleasant cloudy weather', the 'big' field and joining the rest of IDIS family members.
Alliya participated in the 'isi air dalam botol' and the 'bawa bola pingpong dalam sudu' games. Her team was last in the 1st event and was declared the winner on the 2nd event. ... but for the children.. they didn't care whether they were last or first since everyone definitely received at least a prize.
All and all, it has been a good day for Alliya. The only complain we heard from her on that day was the cancellation of ' musical chair' and 'lari ikat kaki' games. She was looking forward to the latter event and has been practicing with her ayah for the past few days.

Terjun Tiruk
Alliya's Ibu is saying...."Don't ask me where this word Terjun Tiruk originated from because this is the first time I heard it myself.. maybe because I'm not a kampung girl and has never been interested in swimming nor diving"
All there are to say... the teenagers definitely were enjoying themselves doing it.. the smaller children inclusive Alliya and the adults enjoyed watching them performing their acts.

Sungai Lembing II

30 January 2006 (Afternoon)
Kampung Sungai Rimau, Sungai Lembing
The Dip in the River
After having a good lunch and nap. The group that conqured Bukit Panorama has decided that they deserved a treat- a 'kampung style'... since it was hot and sunny in Sungai Lembing at that time.. everybody was thinking about how cool and refreshing it would be to have a dip in the water.
At first they were thinking about going to 'kolam cina' which I think was named after the 'people' who built the pool. The source of water for that pool comes from the natural spring water probably from the hill. The only setback is... the pool is located close to the Bandar Sungai Lembing and definitely will be packed with people.
Then someone suggested to go to a more secluded place.. after discussing.. everyone agreed to go to Kampung Sungai Rimau which is located about 5 minutes drive from Kampung Melayu.
By 5pm we were there with only 'keropok lekor' and 'goreng pisang' that we bought along the way. But food was the last thing on the children's minds, everyone was more excited about the water @ river... and Alliya was one of them.

Sungai Lembing I
|
|
30 January 2006 (Morning)
Bukit Panorama
It was an impromptu decision. We went back to Sungai Lembing for a family get together (BBQ) and suddenly someone suggested this idea.. "to climb and conquer the Bukit Panorama"..we were not ready but Alliya was very excited because this would be her first experience in 'hill climbing'. Alliya's ibu was a little bit reluctant because she left her 'Reebok' at home and has to wear her 'Clarks' semi heels.
The journey was suppose to start right after 'Subuh' but Alliya was having a difficult time opening her eyes at the break of dawn. Finally she was up and it was about 7am. It was still foggy and misty in Sungai Lembing.. and Alliya was still in her pyjamas since we would like to start our journey ASAP. The others have left us and started their journey up.
Alliya was having a slow start, therefore her ayah helped her climbing the first 200 steps. At that height her ibu has stopped climbing completely.. her feet are killing her and she decided to sat down on the steps and started taking pictures using her Oly.. Alliya continued her journey with her ayah and managed to reach Base Camp 1. She wanted to continue to the top but since her ibu and the Oly was left behind, her ayah decided to come down. She was not happy with her ayah's decision but has to agree with him

This is the 2nd time that I managed to guess the image correctly. This time the image was posted by Aunty Zain, quite a popular character amongst Fotopages-Malaysia and a very keen learner in photography. Check out her works here http://zainzubair.fotopages.com
And this is the image Alliya and me had chosen for the Teka Image 18.
These are the clues given
Clue1 : Kadang2 panas, kadang2 sejuk
Clue no 2 (Alliya yang bagi ni) : siapa pegang dia panas
We didn't have to give another clue.. straight away the image was guessed and since Kasuke was the fastest.. she is the WINNER!! Bravo Kasuke at http://kasuke.fotopages.com
Image 21
How did I manage to guess Lily's image so quickly? Luck, hardwork, perseverance and good eyes.. I would say this time. There's nothing magical.. I just go to her FP at http://lilylulu.fotopages.com and went through all the images that she has uploaded, and lucky for me... the image was there.
When I showed Alliya this 21st Image.. straight away she can guess (maybe she was peeking at the original picture while I was editing it). So I thought the subjects are quite easy to be recognized and yet it took almost 5 clues before it was guessed correctly by ND http://irwandy.fotopages.com

12 Disember 2005
Today.. finally I've managed to answer the 12th Teka Imej hosted by http://www.fotopages-malaysia.com with the help from Alliya (of course). The image was posted by FPM new elected chairman - aji (you can check out the image at http://hanis.fotopages.com)
The rule of the game is.. if you win, you have to post the next image.. so after going through our collections and doing a little editing, both Alliya and me have chosen this camel image which we took at the zoo recently.
Within two hours helmyemran of http://helmyemran.fotopages.com has managed to guess the image correctly. Congratulations helmy!!

Idul Fitri 2005 Series I - Ketupat
|
|
| Quote: | Ketupat is a type of dumpling from Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia made from rice that has been wrapped in a woven palm leaf pouch which is then boiled. As the rice cooks, the grains begin to expand to fill the pouch and the rice becomes compressed. This method of cooking gives the ketupat its characteristic form and texture of a rice dumpling. Ketupat is usually eaten with rendang (a type of dry beef curry) or served as an accompaniment to satay. Ketupat is also traditionally served by Indonesians and Malays at open houses on festive occasions such as Idul Fitri and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. During Idul Fitri in Indonesia, ketupat is often served with chicken curry, accompanied with spicy soy powder.
There are many varieties of ketupat, with two of the more common ones being ketupat nasi and ketupat pulut. Ketupat nasi is made from white rice and is wrapped in a square shape with coconut palm leaves while ketupat pulut is made from sticky rice is usually wrapped in a triangular shape using the leaves of the fan palm (Licuala). Ketupat pulut is also called "ketupat palas" in Malaysia.
In Indonesia, ketupat sometimes boiled in thin coconut milk and spices to enhance the taste.
Quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketupat |
1 November 2005
This year Alliya was looking forward to celebrating Idul Fitri maybe because now she understands better what Idul Fitri is all about. She wanted to be included in the preparation and insisted her ayah to prepare the 'Ketupat'... she did try to learn weaving the ketupat but her hands are still too small... therefore she chose the next critical task in 'ketupat preparation' which is the art of putting in the rice. The amount of rice put inside the weaved ketupat (pouch) must be just right if NOT.. the ketupat will end up soggy or just too hard.. but with her Embah (grandmother on her ayah's side) as her Quality Controller.. things turned up JUST RIGHT!!

Hari Anugerah Cemerlang 2005
|
|
29 Oct 2005 (Saturday)
It has been awhile since this FP was updated. With the Eid mubarak, the end of the 2005 school term etc.. things has been quite hectic for Alliya's ibu.
Now getting back to this entry, on this day.. one of Alliya's wishes for this year had finally come through. Since the first day of school she wishes that she is going to do her best in school and would like to go on stage during the HAC (Hari Anugerah Cemerlang) to receive a prize. She would like to receive a throphy to be added to her trophy collections.
Allhamdulliah.. eventhough she didn't receive a trophy on that day.. she was still excited because she was acknowledged on that day for her efforts. Bravo to Alliya.

A Visit to "Institut Pediatrik- HKL"
|
|
24th October 2005 (Monday)
Today Alliya is going for her regular medical check-up. Ironically, this time she was looking forward to have her blood tested.. maybe she thought she had matured already and can stand the needle poking.
After beating the traffic jams we finally arrived at the Institut Pediatrik HKL. It's around 8.30 a.m.
This time Alliya tried to be brave and did all the processes herself. First she went and get herself registered. Next was the weight, height and the BP (Blood Pressure) taking. Then came the blood taking... here, she requested her ibu to accompany her.. just in case she needed someone to hold her hand. Surprisingly, everything went well and with a single poking, the experienced staff nurse has managed to gather enough blood sample to be sent to the lab... and this time the 'brave' Alliya has not shedded any tears..Bravo!!
The next thing to do was to wait in front of Room 4 until our number's called. Since we're familiar with the doctors' routine, we decided to go to the Dentistry for Alliya's regular dental check up. Again.. the 'brave' Alliya agreed to go inside the room by herself this time. A few minutes later she appeared with a smile on her face... she just had a few teeth fillings and cleaning.
By 11.30 a.m. it was our turn to meet the doctor. Alliya was so happy to see Dr. Hishamshah was on duty... maybe because the doctor's name is close to her ayah's or maybe the doctor, himself has his own way of dealing with children and always making them feel comfortable to be themselves. For whatever reasons, Alliya is always cheerful and talkative everytime she sees Dr. Hisham. Dr Hisham is the key person incharge of her treatment since 2001. As usual, the session went very well for her and Alliya even managed to persuade Dr Hisham to pose for Kodak Easyshare.
On our way home, Alliya was smiling through out and graded herself A++ today..
